School Mini Grants

Project Overview

Since 2018, Green Peak Alliance has partnered with schools within our region to strengthen their prevention programming through grants. Our grant funding goals focus on reducing underage/binge drinking among 12-20 year olds, reducing marijuana use and prescription drug misuse among 12-25 year olds, and increasing prevention infrastructure and capacity. Schools can apply for grant funds to implement strategies that include student empowerment groups, school-based mentoring programs, staff professional development, school health curriculum, and clubs that support LGBTQ+ youth.

Projects funded through our School Mini Grants included purchase of classroom curricula; resources and training to support suicide prevention protocols; youth empowerment/peer leadership groups and clubs that support LGBTQ+ youth. During the COVID pandemic, handouts on Developmental Assets were created and shared with schools, and a local teen center increased its wellness support capacity. The benefit of this project has been the strengthening of prevention coalitions’ relationships with schools and schools have increased their capacity for prevention.
