Project Overview
When the holiday season officially begins, it comes along with celebrations– events at work, parties with friends, and gatherings with family. Many of these events may have alcohol, but for those who are in recovery or prefer not to drink, it can be tricky terrain.
Because it can be hard be hard to navigate the holidays without alcohol, Green Peak Alliance developed a toolkit to promote ways you can make healthy decisions while still enjoying the season!
Resources for this campaign include 5 social media graphics with captions that you can share around your community.

POST CAPTION:
With holiday parties here, you can greet your host with a gift that’s out of the ordinary, and free from alcohol. Since you may not know if some attendees are in recovery or avoiding alcohol for other reasons this season, consider showing up to an event with a bottle of sparkling cider, a jug of local maple syrup, or a jar with a homemade candle. #noalcoholholidays

POST CAPTION:
Gift-giving season is upon us. While it can seem easy to just pick someone up a bottle of alcohol, you may not know if that’s appropriate. Make your gift thoughtful and personal this year—and make it alcohol-free. Know a wintertime runner? Get them a new water bottle. A cheese-head? Gift them some Vermont cheddar. A music fan? A vintage LP could make them smile. #noalcoholholidays

POST CAPTION:
Got a gift exchange activity coming up this holiday season, like a Yankee swap or white elephant? Think about avoiding alcoholic gifts, since you don’t know if the person who gets the gift might be in recovery or avoiding alcohol for other reasons. Make it fun with a gift for all like an ornament, a hot chocolate kit, or a set of cooking spices. #noalcoholholidays

POST CAPTION:
The holidays are the perfect time to be great role models for the younger people in your life. Show them that holiday celebrations don’t have to include alcohol as you give adult friends and family members thoughtful gifts like works by local artists, books by their favorite authors, or locally made clothes you know they’ll love. #noalcoholholidays

POST CAPTION:
Gathering for a holiday bash or to ring in the New Year? Alcohol doesn’t have to be part of the party. If it’s BYOB or you’re bringing a gift, think about soft drinks or mocktail mixings that ensure people in recovery, designated drivers, and non-drinkers feel included. Here’s a list of great mocktail ideas: www.townandcountrymag.com/leisure/drinks/how-to/g785/best-mocktail-recipes/ #noalcoholholidays
